Is Indian Economy 2012 going to become a sequel to 1991?

The Indian economy has been in turmoil since last year. The falling GDP of the nation, crashing stock markets and weak rupee are not helping the cause. The ratings agencies are already sounding the alarm bell. Filtch has already gone ahead with downgrading, S& P and Moody's are close to it. FDI is falling. Government is suffering from policy paralysis.
The big question that comes to the mind of every citizen of the nation is- “Is our country back to 1991?”
Those harrowing days when the Indian gold reserves were pledged to get loan from IMF. The national treasure had money just for three weeks worth of imports. We surely don't want to go back to those dark days of economic crisis. One man had stood tall during that time, who on account of his economic acumen made economic reforms to revive the national economy, ended license raj and hence unleashing the era of growth for us to become a trillion dollar economy. The man was none other than the then Finance Minister and current Prime Minister of India- Dr. Manmohan Singh. Its so ironic that the current crisis is happening under the government of his leadership.
India has come out of its image of the land of snake charmers with great difficulty after years of foreign misrule. We built our economy after years of toil and babysitting our esteemed democratic structures. No doubt these institutions have failed us- the common man, numerous times. The complex coalition government dynamics are leading to policy paralysis, we are yet to see a major economic reform from UPA-2. India Inc. is righteous in blaming the govt. policies for the disappointing results. FDI in retail is yet to see the light. Short term measures by RBI and Finance Ministry are failing. For the worse, manufacturing sector saw a negative growth. Gold has breached the Rs.30,000 mark but the demand is still constant. The money being used in importing this gold could have been used to fuel some growth viz investment. Gold is reducing the investments . Will the Indian citizens please pay attention to this? This is also one of the major reasons for downfall of the rupee.
The rising rupee will increase the cost of all the products that we import- automobiles, electronics items, computers, mobiles, tablets and the list goes on and on. The difference between our total imports and total exports is widening. Fiscal deficit is on an all time high. We are facing Eurozone crisis and our economy won't be left safe from its ripple effects. Demand for crude oil is increasing. All these factors are leaving for much to be asked on how to stabilize the rupee. Investing in India is being said dangerous by the ratings agencies. Unemployment is rising due to job cuts across all sectors. The BPO sector domination that we have boasting of, is being challenged by Indonesia and Philippines. IT industry is not having happy days either.
All this has been visible since quite a time now but the country's leaders are being ignorant. Planning commission has been busy giving just politically correct statements instead of taking steps to boost growth for the long term. The turnaround is far from here. The question is still unanswered- “Is our country back to 1991?”.

The Global Indian Citizen

'Brain Drain'-This term has come up in front of us since countless years and is considered as one of the many problems our country faces. But the question is-'Is it really that big a problem as the magnitude thats projected about it?'
We've heard innumerable stories of Indians fueling the growth of NASA,Microsoft,Google,Adobe and now the latest one being Facebook.More than half of the top 50 Venture funded startups in US have been started by Indians. An Indian doing a startup business in US created on an average 150 jobs. All these facts prove Indians are playing a major role in global economy.Given the current scenario, should we be worried with brain drain. The answer should be no.
The businesses are going global,so there should be something that enhances our nation's image worldwide for greater good.Indians working abroad have been doing this job remarkably.Would have we been called the nation of intelligent and hard working people had these Indians stayed at their homes?Would the major technology giants come to India and make Bengaluru the silicon valley of the East? Would the nation have witnessed a major growth in fields of science and technology without this considering our historical laid back attitude for infrastructure growth?
Rajat Gupta,Vinod Khosla,Shantanu Narayan,Vikram Pandit,Indra Nooyi,Sant Singh Chatwal,Luxmi Mittal,Lord Swaraj Paul,Pranav Mistri-all these names have made us proud time and again.Because of them we have been able to see a greater perspective about things. These Indians have been one of the major factors for the Increasing FDI in various sectors of our nation.Hence its time we start respecting them instead of being a harsh critic of brain drain. We have big enough pool of engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs, etc. to drive our nation's growth.

Internet Censorship:Face the flak Mr.Sibal

How many times is Mr.Kapil Sibal, the so called esteemed Indian Union HRD, telecoms and IT minister, going to show  his immense power just to be bullied by public(whom he thinks to be stupid common people). The show can help nothing but prove his loyalty to the royals of India-Nehru- Gandhi Parivaar.
The internet giants like Facebook,Google,Yahoo and Microsoft can listen to him for the position he holds but will hardly make an effort to champion the cause he's been fighting for. After all none of them are at the mercy of Sonia Gandhi.Increased censorship will downgrade the internet performance immensely which our nation can hardly afford at this particular point.Until some days back, Julian Assange had praised India for its freedom of internet. I guess Mr.Sibal can hardly hear any praise but of Gandhi family.
Result is he prepared an action plan-How can anyone praise India without giving me or Gandhis credit, let me crack down on the thing he praised. No wonder Internet freedom stands a target today.Someone should remind Mr.Kapil Sibal that we too have voter rights.I guess vote bank is the only lure that the Congress can be lured with these days.
Was never expected this from a St.Stephen's and Harvard alumnus, nevertheless a thing like shouldn't come as a surprise from a Congress Minister's mouth!!

FDI in Retail's affect on falling rupee

Its been quite a few days since we have been watching The Indian Parliament, supposedly the most sacred institution of world's largest democracy, being paralyzed.Quite difficult to judge who is on the right side of the line. Many people opinionated that had NDA been in power, they would have supported FDI and Congress would have opposed it.But well lets not consider the hypothetical situation for now. What matters is the worsening value of Indian National Rupee.
India stands on the verge of the biggest financial crisis she has faced in decades.Just the last line of defence-The Reserve Bank of India stands as the saviour. But does it have enough tooth and firepower to avert this crisis without the FDI?
300 billion dollars Forex can be misguiding.Euro crisis is not helping either.
I came across a statement that Walmart might be the next East India company, hadn't read something as ridiculous as this since months. Its the right of Indian consumers to have the best in their country when they pay equal to their foreign counterparts. So,when our own kiryana walas can't get that for us,why stop FDI.
Moreover,FDI in retail policy allows such stores to be opened in cities with population bigger than 1 million+the minimum 100 million$ backend investment that comes with it.How are smalltown retailers getting affected here?
Moreover, one would go to such stores only if its close to their place or when he/she needs to buy stuff in bulk. For everyday use,you will reach out to your corner street kiryana wala.Govt. has already ensured this by increasing the petrol and diesel prices. These are not just psychological stats, these are real stats as been the effect after opening of stores like Reliance Retail,More,Big Apple, etc.
Slow decision making of Central govt. is not helping the growth rate or inflation control of our nation. The citizens need to come out with more responsibility and stand up for what is right for them instead of listening to these ever changing face of our political leaders. Reforms are the need of the hour and FDI is immensely required to save the rupee. Our leaders should understand this and rise beyond their political differences for the better good.

Pre Common Wealth Games 2010 Notion

Poised to be Indian historys biggest sporting event-2010 Commonwealth Games,
Stories of its glory would reach from Yamunas banks to river Thames.
Delhi’s gearing up to serve as the perfect host,
These games are going to be a feather in the cap for our nation,
Which even our upcoming generations would boast.
Inviting 85 commonwealth teams from across the globe,
The gamesintegrity and legacy would remain intact even after the investigation probe!
From 3rd October to 14th October, 260 events in 17 disciplines would be on constant show,
Everyone is keeping a watch on its preparation, be our friend or our foe.
Delhi has covered a long journey since defeating Hamilton, Canada to be the successful CWG 2010 bidder in November 2003,
Since then, infrastructure growth and development has been on a spree.
The most expensive Commonwealth Games till date with budget of $1.6billion,
CWG would ideally represent a nation of 1.2 billion.
It gave Delhi a chance to become city of world class,
It has been eye candy of India’s top brass.
Doordarshan” is the official event media broadcaster,
It would surely stand the test of times and answer its critics, who say it would be a disaster.
The games would be eco-friendly with signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Environment Programme,
It would boost our nations unity, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Gujarat to Mizoram.
Problems in CWG2010 like corruption charges, labour violations, delays, security concerns, etc. have attracted lot of media attraction,
Never has the praise for grand infrastructure and athleteshard work and preparation been given a mention.
Sherahas been preachingJiyo Utho Badho Jeeto, motivating everyone all the time,
Keep praying for our athletes, wishing them to be at their prime.
Opening & Closing Ceremonies would be in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium,
Wish our athletes to win loads of medals and always be on the podium.

COMMON SENSE IS NOT SO COMMON

Do you have common sense?

You’ll think about it,no matter how much ever your grey cells be dense.

Common sense is not so common,Everyone will agree,

Even praying for it is an example of sheer beggary.

Never ask common sense to answer the unanswered,

Else your work will get martyred.

Some things seem to be obvious,

Though they arent, you think so because you presume that common sense will be courteous.

Common sense is used with different emotions,

Be it irony,be it making fun,be it taunting, but its very rarely brains portion.

Common sense can do uncommon wonders,

Also its absence can cause huge blunders.

Some say common sense is the sixth sense,

They don’t realize that sixth sense is the most rare sense.

If you have common sense, consider yourself gifted,

But don’t presume this just because your common sense says that you got common sense.

Common sense has been written on since years,

When those common people with no common sense write on common sense,it brings in my eyes, long tears.

I don’t know why common sense is called common sense,

You tell, does it make any sense?

Who are the biggest sufferers?Who are the biggest losers?

Those who cross the tresspasser’s prohibiting fence,

Thinking they have common sense.

Those who do it repeatedly, even life doesn’t give them another chance.

Common sense is the most uncommon thing on this earth,

That person lacked common sense.

Yes!Im talking about the person who gave birth to this name,

He named the most uncommon thing as common, thus he failed in his little game.
